This course introduces concepts relevant to race and ethnicity, and provides knowledge of their relationship to life in the United States of America. Topics studied will include prejudice, discrimination, immigration, religion, diversity, and social construction. The course will also present contemporary examples and statistical data to assist students in understanding race and ethnicity. The course demands in-depth reading of the textbook, and will require students to become familiar with basic definitions, historical and present-day analysis, and sociological concepts that surround race and ethnicity. Due to the reading level of this course and the mature lesson topics, it is recommended for 11th and 12th graders only.
