FRESHMAN ENGLISH 1 BASIC

This is a basic level course and requires counselor approval for enrollment!

This course is designed for students who desire to improve their reading, writing, and grammar skills in order to meet English and literature competency requirements for graduation. The focus is on sentences, punctuation, nouns, pronouns, and verbs. The scope and sequence of literature enhances reading comprehension, literary skills, vocabulary, process writing, critical thinking, and viewing. You can expect an emphasis on writing using the Six- Trait writing Rubric. Achieving the basic writing competencies with a focus on quality for freshman English will be our foremost concern. Our composition focus will be oriented toward the practical: writing to inform, describe, and summarize.
