This course is designed for second semester sophomore students who desire to improve their reading, writing, and grammar skills in order to meet English and literature competency requirements for graduation. The focus is on writing paragraphs with purpose, writing essays, practical writing, and writing in school (the book report). Grammar study includes correct agreement, pronoun usage, spelling, capitalization, and punctuation. The scope and sequence of literature enhance reading comprehension, literary skills, vocabulary, process writing, critical thinking, and viewing. High-interest reading selections present the mysteries and the biographies of notable authors.
