NCAA Eligibility
updated August 5, 2011
In the fall of 2010, the NCAA published new requirements for non-traditional coursework. Blueprint Education submitted its application in October 2010. According to the NCAA, while the application was being processed, students that enrolled in courses were placed in a “holding pattern”. In late April 2011, the NCAA responded to the application stating that the courses do not meet the new requirements. Specifically, there are specific requirements for “regular and on-going interaction with the student and teacher”. Blueprint Education appealed this decision. On June 30, 2011the NCAA upheld the previous decision. Our courses are no longer approved by the NCAA.
If you are a student that enrolled in our courses during this “holding pattern” these are the steps you can take:
- Check the requirements established by the NCAA. If you have taken and passed more than the needed credits in each area, the Blueprint Education transcript may not be needed.
- Example: In Division 2, a student athlete only needs to complete 2 years of math. If you took your 3rd year of math with Blueprint – your requirement was already met.
- The college or university in which the student is applying to or attending can contact the NCAA Eligibility Center to request an initial-eligibility waiver. The waiver can state that at the time of enrollment, the Blueprint Education courses were on the approved list. Blueprint Education can assist the requesting college with this process. However, it is the responsibility of the college to contact NCAA about the waiver and initiate the process.
