Professional Background:
Before coming to Blueprint, where I’ve worked for the last four years, I was the lead teacher at Sunrise Preschool for two years. It was a wonderful and rewarding experience. I also worked at Lynnhaven Preschool with a three-year-old class for about two years.
I found my true calling for educating children in 1997, when my baby girl, Kalia, started kindergarten at a school called Atop Academy College Preparatory. I started as a volunteer helping teachers by making copies and assisting students with class work. I was soon asked to teach Kindercare, a before and after school program for kindergarten students. I enjoyed the experience, and will never forget it. At that time, I began taking classes at Phoenix College in Early Childhood Education in order to earn my Associate’s Degree. I really enjoy helping children learn and succeed in education.
Personal Life:
I’m 49 years young and a native of Arizona. For over 25 years, I’ve been happily married to the world’s most wonderful man, Darayl. I’m proud of our four children who, in my opinion, are the most respectful and amazing kids you’ll ever meet. Charles is 29 years old, Kaiya is 22, Derrick is 20 and Kalia is 17. I also have two granddaughters, Jasmine (9) and Siriah (3), who I cherish and thank God for every day. We also have three dogs—Bear, Taz and Coco, two cockatiels—Lupe and Pepe, and a land turtle—Ms. Clarissa. Sounds like a zoo, but I love them all, and they’re a part of our big, happy family.

What draws you to Blueprint Education?
One memory stands out from the 2006 school year. A new teacher had just been hired for our 4-6 grade class. We were so happy to have a new staff member on board that we decided to play a prank on her. During lunch that day, we served our students and convinced the new teacher to take Mr. Fisher a plate full of beans. Everyone but her knew that Mr. Fisher doesn't eat or like beans. The look on her face when she came out of his office was priceless, and we laughed a long time that day. It was great.
