Christine Sparacino

Grants Director

Location: Blueprint Education Main Office

Professional Background:
My education includes a Bachelor’s degree in Education with an English minor, and a Master's in Curriculum and Instructional Design.  Past work experience includes 8 years teaching junior high school (6 years in Alameda, CA and 2 years for the Department of Defense in Karlsruhe, Germany).  I have a California Life Teaching Credential.
I also hold a certificate in Technical and Professional Writing with a focus on grant proposal writing, copywriting and desktop publishing.  My required writing internship was at Children’s Hospital, Oakland, where I was responsible for funding research and grant proposal writing for the Center for Child Protection Services. Additional experience includes five years of research, major proposal writing, and grants management for Alliant University, Alameda County Office of Education, various city governments, law enforcement, medical research, as well as many non-profit organizations.

Personal Life:
I live with Ed, my husband of 27 years in Walnut Creek, California. Ed is a former math and chemistry teacher, who now runs his own commercial construction business specializing in government and tenant renovation. Through helping him, I’ve gained lots of experience responding to technically-specific RFPs and contracts, and handling all of the financial duties of the corporation. As a former teacher, he “gets it” and often adds good ideas when I discuss my grant proposals with him.

Our oldest son, Christopher, graduated from the University of Arizona in 2008, and I became a rabid Wildcat football fan and a serious PAC 12 follower. Our youngest son, Paul, attends California State University, Chico. His major is Hotel and Resort Management, and for the past two summers has worked at Yosemite High Sierra camp.

What draws you to Blueprint Education?
I am very excited to be working with a group of enthusiastic people who believe in success for all students. Completing their education, finding a stable, satisfying career and learning to live independently is challenging for all young people. Accommodating a variety of learning styles, and helping youth transition to adulthood is Blueprint’s primary concern. I am pleased to be a part of such a dedicated organization.
