Doug Covey

Chief Executive Officer

Location: Blueprint Office

Professional Background:
I am the CEO of Blueprint Education and Adjunct Professor at Feather River College. I joined in May of 2002 as the third CEO in the history of the organization. Prior to joining Blueprint Education, I held business management positions with REI, the nation's largest outdoor retailer, in Colorado, Washington and Idaho. I worked as a research consultant with local and statewide governments throughout the West. I continue to be instrumental in building academic partnerships between Blueprint Education and therapeutic programs throughout the country. I co-founded the Kids at Hope Association and established a joint partnership with the Kids at Hope Organization by creating Arizona's first Kids at Hope Academy for school-aged youth. I am a member of a number of organizations including National Association of Therapeutic Schools and Programs, International Association of Learning Alternatives, Rotary Club of Boise and Greater Phoenix Education Management Council. I currently chair the Youth Service Committee for my local Rotary Club, sit on the advisory council for NCA-CITA and am an emeritus board member with Kids at Hope.

Personal Life:
I live with my wife, three young children and neighborhood stray cats in Boise, Idaho. My wife and I believe in creating learning opportunities for our children by actively traveling, gardening, cooking, skiing, biking, backpacking, boating and being involved in numerous community organizations. Our family life experiences contribute to our philosophy of concentrated cultivation.

What draws you to Blueprint Education?
The main benefit of working for our non-profit organization is the genuine, like-minded values of our employees. They express their dedication by staying focused on students and families, and show such heart-felt warmth and desire to see all children succeed. I enjoy the memories of our staff leadership retreats and quarterly "let's talks" with all our employees.
