Principal

Location: Blueprint Office

Professional Background:
I came to Blueprint Education in May 2006, after teaching eighth grade Language Arts in the Glendale Elementary School District for two years. Prior to that, I taught seventh and eighth grade Language Arts and Social Studies for Terra Nova Academy in Phoenix. I began my career teaching social studies in Reynoldsburg City Schools in Ohio.

I became aware of the ever-growing need for effective, flexible curriculum and varied teaching methods for all learners after serving on my schools’ curriculum committees and school improvement committees. I truly believe in the educational motto: “For every student…a way to learn.” To pursue this end, I earned my Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Phoenix, and soon moved from the classroom to curriculum by joining Blueprint Education. I now oversee curriculum development and alignment, instruction, assessment, and all aspects of distance learning, including Blueprint Education’s private pay and state-funded programs.

Personal Life:
Originally from Ohio, I moved to Arizona in 2003 with my husband, Justin. We now live in Glendale with our pride and joy, Rubi, a Chinese Shar Pei. We love the outdoors, and spend much of our time camping and off-road Jeeping. I also enjoy running, reading and watching movies from Netflix (now an obsession of mine). In the fall and winter, we occupy many weekends with college and pro football and basketball. An avid Ohio State fan, I can’t miss this opportunity to say “Go Bucks!”

Quote You Live By:
“Life is good.”

What draws you to Blueprint Education?
I remember a football player who came to Blueprint Education after failing Algebra and losing his eligibility to play. The week before the first football game of the season, he came to our office to take a final exam in his credit recovery. He needed great help understanding the concepts, and I watched as the staff rallied around him. They stayed late tutoring him, and even made math manipulatives out of office supplies. He passed his exam, and the staff celebrated by going to his football game. This was in my first few months at Blueprint Education, and I knew right then that this place was special.
