Community Service Experience “Creating The Habit of Giving Back” Students will rotate through the Farm/garden, Food warehouse, Food prep Kitchen, Homeless resource center (hands-on interaction). Students will start designing their fundraising plan at the retreat and will present at least a $100 donation on the day of service.
Our visit to the campus at Arizona State University provided many new insights. Students were able to work in groups that allowed them to work on critical thinking and communication to create an idea that could potentially provide a service. Students were able to work on public speaking skills by presenting to others what they had created and how it was going to function.
Students gained the opportunity to learn soft skills– writing essays, working in teams to collaborate on a business model they created together, researching credible sources–that will help them in their future pursuits of any college or a career.
